The 2026 Pink Pedals 4 A Cure | Terry’s Ride (PP4AC) will be the ninth (9th) multi-state solo bicycle ride for Al and Terry Reszel. From their humble beginnings in 2015 to today, Al and Terry Reszel have dedicated themselves to supporting The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) and helping find a cure. Over the years, Al and Terry have raised over $60,000+ for breast cancer research. With more than 28,250 miles to date. In fact, during the 2025 ride, Al total number of miles for the past eight years, surpassed the number of mile required to circumnavigating the earth.
When Al locks in to his Pink Pedals on March 21, 2026, he will do so at the age of 67. Starting the 2026 ride in at the Santa Monica Pier in California, over a period of 45 days, Al will bicycle through 13 states, and traverse some 4,000 miles. As has become a tradition, Al will end his ride pedaling through the canyons of New York City, arriving at the BCRF Global Headquarters on May 5, 2026.
From Terry’s Desk. A Note For 2026 … Hello! Well, most years one of our first considerations is if Al is healthy enough to be able to do another cross country ride. This year the tables are turned a little bit. As many of you know, I had three cervical spine surgeries between June and August. Thankfully the recovery has been going well throughout the fall and winter.
So this year, the question was if we were both healthy enough to do another ride. After much consideration and discussions, I decided I didn’t want to miss the opportunity to do another ride to support the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF).
So… On Saturday, March 21, 2026, Al will get on his bicycle for the 9th time to start another ride at the end of the Santa Monica pier in California and ride 4,000 miles to the BCRF Global Headquarters in New York City.
As always, your prayers and support are an inspiration for us to do it one more time for the BCRF.
Terry
Working Together To Find A Cure … Survival is a common thread in this historic and heroic story. Love is the needle and needful thing that weaves the threads together to form a narrative born out of determination, courage, and commitment. Terry Reszel, a breast cancer survivor, has already written her chapter of sufferance and stoicism, steps once again into the multi-faceted role of supporter, comforter, and cheerleader as her husband, Al Reszel, once again enters the saddle, attempting another herculean cross country solo bicycle ride to help find a cure.
Terry Story … Terry’s story of survival began in 2000 when she received the first of many calls regarding her mammogram results. From 2001 to 2009, Terry was forced to endure multiple biopsies and ultrasounds, setting the stage for a life-changing event that would alter their lives forever. In the fall of 2010, while awaiting the test results of yet another biopsy, Terry received a call from her doctor, confirming her worst fear, a diagnosis of breast cancer. Soon thereafter, Terry underwent a bilateral mastectomy.
From her discovery of breast cancer to treatment and beyond, Terry drew strength and stability from her husband Al, and her family, forging a path of perseverance and allowing her to endure the darkest of times. Finding hope and conviction through faith and belief in their love for one another, Terry and Al found a way to withstand insurmountable challenges. Their courageous journey resulted in a secondary life-changing event. A decision to take a road less traveled. A road that demanded newfound conviction, commitment, and courage. In 2015, Terry and Al created and launched the charitable organization now known as Pink Pedals 4 A Cure | Terry’s Ride in support of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) to help find a cure.
It has been 16 years since her diagnosis. Today, Terry counts her blessings, lives her life one day at a time, and looks to the future. In 2026, Terry and Al will once again willingly go forth, embarking on a new journey for the love of each other, those striving to survive, and the families of those in need. Together, they will seek to provide sustenance and peace in a turbulent existence. Their goal, as always, is to create awareness and financial support to fund breast cancer research in an endeavor to find a cure.
Al’s Story … Al Reszel is an avid bicyclist and outdoorsman, living with his wife, Terry, in Richmond, Minnesota. Al’s love of two wheels started many years ago. Short afternoon rides quickly became 50-to-100-mile rides each weekend. In 2015, Al decided to honor Terry’s courageous journey, helping to create Pink Pedals 4 A Cure | Terry’s Ride in support of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) to help find a cure. That first year, Al completed a solo bicycle ride of over 500 miles from Afton, Minnesota, to Geneva, Illinois. Now nine years later, Al has crisscrossed the United States multiple times, traveling more than 28,250 miles and raising over $60,000+ for The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF).
Long before Al would find himself in the saddle to help find a cure for breast cancer, Al worked as a business executive and trainer for companies the likes of Wells Fargo and Great Western Bank. After spending his entire career in Corporate America, Al made a bold decision to go back to school, and get his Master’s Degree in Special Education. Earning his degree from Bemidji State University, Al began working as a High School Special Education teacher. In May 2020, after ten years of enriching his own life and that of ‘his kids,’ Al retired from teaching. He now spends his days with Terry and his family including two sons, their wives, and five beautiful grandchildren.
